FAQs

I am concerned that a fiberglass shelter or fiberglass building may not stand the abuse of being moved around multiple times and our cold winters. Will MOCOAT shelters and buildings stand the test of time?

We have shelters in service since the early 1970's. MOCOAT's unique double-wall design incorporates high strength 3/16" thick walls, sandwiching a foam core. Using only the highest quality materials ensures the most comprehensive combination of complete corrosion resistance and durability found in industry today.

How do I install your fiberglass buildings or wellhead shelters over my existing aboveground piping?

Literally thousands of buildings have been installed over piping runs. The most common method is to cut a slot in the building with a slight mitre end. Once the shelter is placed over top of the wellhead or process equipment, the area removed from the slot should be cut underneath the piping and then reinstalled into place using either caulking or sheet metal and self-tapping screws. All of which are available at any local hardware store. A picture is provided below where an operator simply caulked the inside and outside of the conical shelters.

and installed over existing piping.

The other common method is for our customer to provide us with the elevation and orientation of the piping run and we would cut the slot into the building and tailor make the reinstalled section to your unique specifications. A picker truck or crane would then simply install the building over top of the piping and field installation would be limited to installing two self-tapping screws. This method works very well to minimize the risk of waiting time for expensive cranes and pickers.

Both methods have been used by our customers thousands of times over the years.

I am concerned that transporting my buildings will cost as much as the building itself. How can I reduce my trucking bills?

2 ways: MOCOAT's Conical Wellhead Shelters have been designed with this very feature in mind. Our conical shelters are designed to be nested inside each other as shown in the picture below. A standard 48 ft. truck deck will allow as many as twenty conical shelters to be shipped on the same load. Thus a $3,000 freight bill from our plant to the United States for example, would result in a charge of only $150 per building!!

Our rectangular buildings have also been designed with transportation efficiencies in mind. As many as 20 10'x10'x10' rectangular buildings can fit inside one standard transport trailer used by any common carrier. MOCOAT ensures that our buildings are always trial-fitted to ensure that 1-10'x10'x10' building can be easily erected in a half day by two men and that there are no missing pieces.

The other way is through our extensive distribution network. Many of our distributors inventory our products. By taking advantage of transportation and cost savings by purchasing in quantity our distributors are often able to pass along a portion of the savings to the end user while keeping some for themselves.

How can I protect my MOCOAT buildings from substantial wind?

All of MOCOAT's buildings have a floor flange to allow the buildings to be bolted or set down on a gravel, concrete or steel base. If they are installed over a gravel base, simply install some of the gravel over top of the floor flange. For excessive winds, we have an economical option of hold-down stakes. Holes would be drilled through the base (by MOCOAT or in the field) and the hold-down stakes pounded into the ground. You should be able to tie down one of our buildings in under an hour and the problem is now solved.
